SPStatus now on CodePlex

How do you check for broken links in Sharepoint?  With large SharePoint Portal deployments a major challenge is ensuring all the web links contained within a Portal and Team Sites are kept up to date. In SharePoint Portal and Team Sites links can be stored in "Link Lists", "Content Editor Web Parts" and "Portal Listings". Unfortunately there is no reporting tool built-in to SharePoint that will allow you to check all the links. This is where SharePoint Status can help reduce the time required to maintain a large Portal site. See also:

SPSpellCheck

Spelling mistaks allwasy look sloopy. Especially on an Intranet or Extranet where customers or partners can see them. So I talked to my good friend over at TCPIQ.com who happened to have a Great Web Spell Checker and we have integrated it into SharePoint Portal Server. This forth coming product will allow you to spell check any field in the Portal UI as well as the Rich Text Editor in the content Editor Web Part. You can see from the screenshot that the "spellcheck" icon is added to the common fields within the SharePoint UI. See the screenshot..

SPSkin (BETA)

SharePoint uses Cascading Style Sheets to control the "look and feel" of the Portal and Team Sites. Sure you can spend a few hours modifying the CSS files by hand, but wouldn't it be nice if there was a GUI that allowed you to see the changes you were making?  This is where SPSkin can be used to quickly and easily generate the style sheets for your Portal and Team Sites. This product is currently in Beta. See the Beta.

SharePoint Page ToolBar

Give your SharePoint pages a professional look and feel with the 'Page ToolBar'. This web part will add a "Print Preview", "Add to Favorites", "Alert Me" and "Add to My Links" button to the page. These additional buttons will require no code changes to the original page and will take seconds to install. You can see a demo or download the web part

SharePoint & Outlook - Bringing it all together

Most people talk about putting Outlook into SharePoint, but why can't we do it the other way around?  Why not put SharePoint into Outlook?  Most users look at Outlook everyday for email and appointments. So if we bring their MySite into Outlook then they can also see Alerts and "News for you", etc. Have a look at the screenshot as see if you can figure out where Outlook ends and SharePoint begins. This isn't really a product. It is just a different way of thinking about Outlook & SharePoint. See the screen shot..
